A Study on the Factors of the Dysfunction in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living in Elders Using Elderly Welfare Facilities
Kim Hyun-Ju

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide implications for an obviative social welfare practical intervention in order to support elders in independent routine life by analyzing the factors lowering their IADL and help them maintain a healthy elderly life with their life satisfaction increased. For this purpose, questionnaire survey was carried out for 200 elders who used elderly welfare facilities in the Changwon region. As a result the male elders were lower than the female ones, the older ones than the younger ones, the lower educational level elders than the higher educational level elders, the non-pensioners than the pensioners in IADL. Also, it turned out from the analysis that the elders without life goals were more dysfunctional than those with, and those with more worries or anxieties than those with less worries or anxieties in IADL. In addition, it also appeared from the analysis that cohabitation with or without one`s spouse, conversation with cohabitating family members, drinking, smoking etc. had influence on IADL. Thus, based on the results of this study, I have suggested the necessity of the obviative intervention for the promotion and maintenance of IADL in elders using elderly welfare facilities and a plan for the social welfare practical intervention.
